Policosanols: The only commercially available marine source. Calanus oil contains unsurpassed levels of ergogenic policosanols, enhancing muscle mass and functions.

A special combination
The special combination of the three omega-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids SDA, EPA and DHA are due to the phytoplankton fatty acids being incorporated into the copepods’ storage lipids. Therefore, the fatty acids found in calanus oil are largely reflected by the fatty acid composition of the phytoplankton. The high content of the long-chain monounsaturated fatty acids and their corresponding long-chain policosanols in calanus oil are the results of the copepods’ own synthesis.
As Zooca® Lipids is a non-refined lipid extract from a natural source, it contains a plethora of different lipid components such as astaxanthin, policosanols and more than 15 different fatty acids, as illustrated in the figure.

Here’s how it works
The liquid wax in Zooca® Lipids contains unsurpassed levels of ergogenic policosanols, enhancing muscle mass and function. These lipids are digested in the distal intestine, giving a slow but complete uptake, which also allows for activation of GPR120 receptors. This receptor activation supports favourable body composition by regulating the metabolism of sugar and fat, resulting in metabolic effects like enhanced insulin sensitivity and reduction of intra-abdominal- and liver fat deposition.
In addition to policosanols, mono- and polyunsaturated fatty acids in the potent form of liquid wax C. finmarchicus contains high levels of the astaxanthin one of the most powerful antioxidants found in nature. This antioxidant gives Zooca® Lipids the dark red colour. Astaxanthin protects the zooplankton from UV radiation whilst present in the surface layers of the ocean.
